NEPAL & INDIA
Curated in such a way as to allow for the best use of light as well as subject matter. This journey takes you to some of the most important destinations in both countries. From sunrises over mountains to walks through villages from temples, monasteries and mosques to people of all ages and walks of life. This journey gives you an "up close and personal" look at life in these destinations.
Days 1, 2 & 3 KATHMANDU
Arrive in Nepal's most important city and take a walk through its streets. Next day visit the main sights of Kathmandu including the famous Durbar Square, the Monkey Temple and the neighboring city of Patan. Spend the last day on an excursion to Bakhtapur famous for its temples and monasteries and the 55 windowed Palace.. once home to the erstwhile royal family.
Day 4 BANDIPUR
Enjoy a yoga session this morning before departing to Bandipur. En route, take a cable car ride to visit the famous Manakamana temple. Bandipur, is a little town made famous not only as an important stop on the India/ China trade route but also because it is located on a narrow spine of land that falls away sharply into terraced fields. Take a walk around the village this evening.
Days 5 & 6 POKHARA
Watch a spectacular sunrise in Bandipur and then proceed to Pokhara which is surrounded on all sides by the Himalayas. Enjoy a full day tour of Pokhara visiting the falls, lakes, temples and the famous Peace Pagoda. The next day enjoy a full day trek into the countryside.
Days 7 & 8 VARANASI
Enjoy your days exploring the cultural rich city of Varanasi. Watch an 'Arti' ceremony, do some yoga, visit an Akhara or traditional wrestling center, see Sarnath where Buddha preached and also soak in the atmosphere of the ancient city.
Day 9 KHAJURAHO
Visit the city of erotic temples and watch a mesmerising sound and light show.
Day 10 & 11 AGRA
Visit the quaint little town of Orchha with its gurgling river and beautiful temples before starting your train ride to Agra. Next day see the spectacular Taj Mahal and also visit Agra fort.. once the center of the Mughal empire.
Day 12 & 13 JAIPUR
Visit Fatehpur Siri, a beautifully preserved Mughal fort en-route to the vibrant city of Jaipur. Take a walk through the old city of Jaipur before sunset. The next day enjoy a tour of all the forts and palaces, the amazing Jantar Mantar and dine with a local family.
Day 14 & 15 DELHI
Visit India's capital and one of the most beautiful cities in the world... Delhi. Enjoy the crowded markets in Old Delhi and the amazing architecture in New Delhi. Enjoy the cosmopolitan feel of the city and dine in a local hot spot.
Day 16 DELHI AND DEPARTURE
Take your early morning flight home.
